Day 9

Arrival in Bethlehem

100_2923.JPG

Once they arrived in Bethlehem they went to a house but the guest room was full so they stayed in the stable.

There is no verse that I could put with this post that wouldn’t give away upcoming parts(as if we don’t know it anyway) so I don’t have a verse today. Regarding this subject has anyone every read Closer to The Real Christmas Story by Jared Burkholder? It is a closer to culturally correct look at the Christmas story that in the notes section in the back has some cool information. I learned that the word inn correctly translated is actually guestroom and stables were attached to the homes. Also it said they were probably staying at a relatives home.

Elizabeth gave birth to a boy. When the time came for him to be circumcised her relatives wanted to name him Zechariah. Elizabeth spoke out and said his name was John.

They signed to Zechariah to see what he wanted. Zechariah signed for a writing tablet (In case you forgot or didn’t know Zechariah had been silenced by the angel who told him of his son for not believing.)

Zechariah said he is to be named John and then he could speak.

Read the whole story in Luke 1:57- 80.
